Minn Kota X10 CHO Sonar & GPS Chartplotter (without Transducer) – The 10.1-inch HD Display for Live Sonar, Networking and Professional Split Screens
The Minn Kota X10 CHO (Control Head Only) is the direct technological successor to the Humminbird XPLORE 10 CHO and the ideal choice for all demanding anglers who want a noticeably larger screen for advanced split screens and real-time sonar, but do not need an additional standard transom transducer. As a specialized version without a transducer, the X10 CHO is aimed at boat owners who are looking for an uncompromising large display for their Live Sonar at the bow or helm, want to use the integrated transducer of their Minn Kota bow motor, or want to expand their existing onboard network with a second full-featured monitor. This saves you unnecessary expenses for transducer hardware that would be superfluous in your setup.
In the new X Series, Minn Kota's outstanding boat control and Humminbird Imaging sonar technology come together under one brand. With a generous 10.1-inch HD screen (1280 × 800 pixels) in a modern 16:10 widescreen format, the X10 CHO offers significantly more vertical and horizontal overview than more compact devices. It allows you to keep even complex triple split screens of a marine chart, 2D sonar, and live image in view for hours without eye strain, without missing important details.
Why the Minn Kota X10 CHO is the ultimate display for demanding anglers
On larger boats, cabin boats, or professional vertical and pelagic setups, you quickly reach the limits of smaller screens as soon as multiple sonar views are running simultaneously. In the robust housing of the Minn Kota X10 CHO with massive aluminum cooling fins, the same ultra-fast quad-core processor as in the flagship models of the series is at work.
Especially when using high-resolution real-time sonar (Minn Kota LIVE as well as Humminbird MEGA Live 1 & 2), this processor architecture ensures a lag-free, extremely smooth display of all fish movements and your lure presentation. You simply connect your live transducer directly to the X10 CHO via an Ethernet cable – completely without an expensive external black box. For all anglers who are switching from a previous Humminbird XPLORE, APEX, or SOLIX G3 setup, the X10 CHO also offers maximum compatibility: The device uses the same proven PC-13 power cable, making a quick plug-and-play replacement possible without the hassle of re-running cable harnesses.
Brilliant 10.1-inch HD display with weather-resistant CrossTouch operation
The glare-free 24-bit color TFT display has a resolution of 1280 × 800 pixels and, thanks to first-class panel technology, provides a clear, reflection-free image even at a side viewing angle, in the blazing summer sun, and with polarized sunglasses. With the intuitive CrossTouch operation, you maintain full control in every situation on the water. On calm days, you use the multi-touch screen for quick zooming, moving map sections, and setting waypoints. In heavy swells, driving rain, sub-zero temperatures, or with wet, slimy hands, you seamlessly switch to the tactile buttons and the rotary knob on the edge of the housing. Via the three freely programmable One-Boat Network quick-select keys, you can assign your preferred screen layouts or important bow motor controls directly at the touch of a button.
Full Humminbird sonar performance via your preferred transducer setup
Even though the Minn Kota X10 CHO is supplied without its own transducer, the device features the complete latest generation Humminbird sonar module. As soon as you connect the sonar to a compatible transducer – such as the integrated MEGA DI or MEGA SI transducer of your Minn Kota bow motor, an existing transom transducer, or via the Ethernet network to your main chartplotter –, all sonar technologies are fully available to you.
With frequencies of over 1 MHz in the MEGA range as well as the long-range 455 kHz frequency, the X10 CHO supports MEGA Side Imaging+ with up to 244 meters of total coverage as well as MEGA Down Imaging+ down to 61 meters. The high-precision Dual Spectrum CHIRP 2D sonar simultaneously delivers razor-sharp target separation in mid-water and just above the bottom, so that even at high boat speeds or in strong currents, you can clearly distinguish individual fish from the bottom.
Wireless bow motor control and future-proof navigation
With the Minn Kota X10 CHO, your boat becomes a networked unit without a distracting mess of cables in the cockpit. Via the integrated Wireless One-Boat Network, the sonar connects completely wirelessly to the new Minn Kota bow motors with dual-band GPS as well as to all Advanced GPS motors from the 2024 model year onward via a free software update.
Using the Draw and Navigate™ function, you can simply draw your desired drift, trolling, or casting line with your fingertip directly on the 10,1-inch display, after which your paired Minn Kota bow motor will immediately follow this path fully automatically.
For maximum safety when navigating unknown waters or shallow bays, Intelligent Depth Control™ provides peace of mind. Here, you enter your personal minimum water depth in the menu. If the boat is at risk of entering too shallow water, the X10 CHO will sound an alarm in time and automatically prompt your motor to initiate Spot-Lock® or deploy compatible Raptor and Talon shallow-water anchors, even before the hull hits bottom.
Intelligent waypoint management, AutoChart Live, and roll-back recording
Thanks to the generous screen, organizing your fishing spots on the X10 CHO is particularly clear. You can circle several waypoints with your finger, color-code them in groups, or wirelessly synchronize them with your smartphone via the Minn Kota Fishing App. If a 2D transducer is integrated into the system, you can create your own high-precision depth charts with AutoChart® Live directly while on the water, including bottom hardness and vegetation density. The device offers 8 hours of internal storage for this purpose, which can be expanded indefinitely with an optional Zero-Line SD card.
An indispensable tool for all predatory fish and live sonar anglers is the Media Tool with roll-back recording. If an exceptional fish unexpectedly appears on the screen, you can save the sonar recording up to 30 seconds backward. In addition, videos can be recorded up to two minutes in advance, allowing you to analyze attacks and reactions to the lure in detail later or easily share them on social media via the smartphone app.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the Minn Kota X10 CHO (without transducer)
What advantages does the Minn Kota X10 CHO offer over the smaller X9 CHO? The X10 CHO has a wider 16:10 image format with a 10,1-inch diagonal and 1280 × 800 pixels, and approximately 27 percent more screen area than the 9-inch model. This pays off especially when you split the screen into three windows (for example, marine chart, 2D sonar, and live sonar), as all displays remain noticeably larger and easier to read without eye strain.
Can I retroactively connect a classic transom transducer to the X10 CHO? Yes, this is possible at any time. The X10 CHO features a full-featured sonar port on the back. You can retrofit an original Minn Kota or Humminbird all-in-one transom transducer (such as the XM 14 HW CMSI T) at any time and immediately use MEGA Side Imaging+, MEGA Down Imaging+, and Dual Spectrum CHIRP.
Do I need an additional black box for Minn Kota LIVE Sonar on the X10 CHO? No. Both the new Minn Kota LIVE Sonar and Humminbird MEGA Live 1 and 2 connect directly via the included Ethernet network cable to the network connection of the X10 CHO. Thanks to the powerful quad-core processor, signal processing takes place entirely internally within the device.
Is the X10 CHO compatible with my existing cables from a Humminbird XPLORE or APEX installation? Yes, the pinout for power (PC-13), transducer, and Ethernet is identical. You can simply unplug an old display and connect the new X10 CHO directly with the existing cables.
