Minn Kota X9 CMSI Fishfinder & GPS Chartplotter (incl. Transducer) – The 9-Inch HD All-Rounder with Humminbird MEGA Imaging+

The Minn Kota X9 CMSI is the turnkey complete package for all boat anglers looking for the optimal balance of generous screen area, razor-sharp HD resolution, and still compact external dimensions. As the direct, technologically enhanced successor to the bestseller Humminbird XPLORE 9 CMSI, the new 9-inch fishfinder including All-in-One transom transducer for the first time brings together Minn Kota's legendary boat control and Humminbird Imaging's world-leading sonar technology under one roof.

With its high HD resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels and over 60 percent more display area compared to the 7-inch model, the Minn Kota X9 CMSI plays out its strengths everywhere you want to keep an eye on multiple windows at the same time. Whether searching large bodies of water with Side Imaging and a parallel-opened nautical chart, actively vertical jigging with the thumper, or precisely placing your rigs from the bait boat: The X9 CMSI delivers uncompromising high-end performance for every fishing boat.

Why the Minn Kota X9 CMSI is the golden mean of the X-Series

For many anglers, a 7-inch device in split-screen mode is too small in the long run, while a 12-inch display on the inflatable boat, aluminum boat, or compact control stands often takes up too much space and battery power. This is exactly where the Minn Kota X9 CMSI sets the standard in the 9-inch class. In the flat housing with massive aluminum cooling fins, exactly the same ultra-fast quad-core processor as in the large 12- and 16-inch flagship models of the X-Series works, while the power consumption remains pleasantly low at just 2.1 amperes.

The result on the water is impressive: Even if you display high-resolution MEGA Side Imaging+, a detailed depth chart, and an optional real-time sonar (Minn Kota LIVE or Humminbird MEGA Live 1 & 2) on the screen at the same time, the system runs absolutely smoothly and without any delay. In addition, all switchers benefit from the identical plug architecture to the Humminbird XPLORE and APEX series, including the proven PC-13 power cable.

Including a large All-in-One transom transducer for maximum range and clarity

The powerful, full-featured combo transom transducer XM 14 HW CMSI T including a robust metal transom mount and 6 meters of connection cable is already included in the delivery scope of the Minn Kota X9 CMSI. This transducer gets the absolute maximum out of the integrated latest generation Humminbird sonar technology.

With a frequency of over 1 MHz in the MEGA range and the long-range 455-kHz coverage, you scan up to 122 meters to the left and right (a total of 244 meters of coverage) with MEGA Side Imaging+ and look directly under the boat down to a depth of 61 meters with MEGA Down Imaging+. On the high-resolution 9-inch HD display, you can see sunken trees, mussel beds, drop-offs, baitfish schools, and bottom-dwelling trophy predators in almost photographic detail. This is complemented by the highly precise Dual Spectrum CHIRP 2D Sonar, which ensures extremely clean target separation – indispensable for tracking your lure, the leader, and rising fish in the midwater or hard on the bottom in real-time while vertical jigging.

Brilliant 9-inch HD display with weather-resistant CrossTouch operation

The glare-free 24-bit color TFT display offers a brilliant, high-contrast image that remains perfectly readable from every angle even in direct sunlight and when wearing polarized sunglasses. Thanks to the well-thought-out CrossTouch operation, you have full control in all weather conditions. In calm water, you conveniently and lightning-fast control all functions via the responsive multi-touch screen. As soon as strong waves, continuous rain, cold, or wet and slimy hands make touch input difficult, you operate the entire fishfinder seamlessly via the grippy push buttons on the right side of the housing. Via the three freely programmable One-Boat Network quick-select buttons, you can also set up your most important sonar views or bow motor commands for immediate access at the touch of a button.

Wireless bow motor control and smart navigation

The Minn Kota X9 CMSI puts an end to unnecessary cable clutter in the boat. Via the integrated Wireless One-Boat Network, the fishfinder connects completely wirelessly to the new Minn Kota bow motors with Dual-Band GPS as well as to all Advanced GPS motors from the model year 2024 via a free software update.

With the Draw and Navigate™ function, the time-consuming setting of individual waypoints in the menu is finally a thing of the past. You simply draw your desired trolling route or the exact course of an interesting depth line directly on the 9-inch chart display with your finger, after which your coupled Minn Kota bow motor immediately and precisely follows this route fully automatically.

Draw and Navigate - Simply draw the route or the course of an edge directly on the digital nautical chart with your finger

For maximum safety in shallow water areas, Intelligent Depth Control™ ensures safety. You simply set a personal minimum depth in the fishfinder. If the water becomes shallower than your safety value, the X9 CMSI warns you immediately and can automatically anchor a connected Minn Kota motor via Spot-Lock® or deploy compatible shallow water anchors like Raptor and Talon before the boat runs aground.

Smart waypoint management, AutoChart Live and rewind recording

Managing your hotspots and mapping unknown water sections also becomes child's play with the Minn Kota X9 CMSI. You simply circle interesting waypoints on the display with your finger to mark them as a group, sort them by color, or wirelessly synchronize them with your smartphone via the Minn Kota Fishing App. With the integrated AutoChart® Live, the fishfinder records its own highly precise depth charts including bottom composition (hardness) and aquatic plant growth directly while driving over the included transducer. For this, you have 8 hours of internal memory available directly in the device, which can be endlessly expanded via an optional Zero-Line SD card.

A special practical highlight is the new Media Tool with rewind recording. If a trophy fish suddenly appears on the 2D sonar, Side Imaging, or Live image, but the recording was not activated, you can simply save the past sonar sequence for up to 30 seconds retroactively. Alternatively, you can record videos up to two minutes in advance directly to later analyze the biting behavior in peace or share the best scenes directly on your social media channels via the smartphone app.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ) about the Minn Kota X9 CMSI (with transducer)

Is the price increase from the Minn Kota X7 CMSI to the larger Minn Kota X9 CMSI worth it?

If you frequently work with split-screen views (e.g., nautical chart on the left and Side Imaging or 2D sonar on the right), the jump to the X9 CMSI is definitely worth it. In addition to the screen area being over 60 percent larger, the X9 CMSI offers a higher HD resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels (instead of 1024 × 600 pixels on the X7) and comes with the larger XM 14 HW CMSI T transom transducer, which provides even more detail in long Side Imaging scans.

Why does it now say Minn Kota instead of Humminbird on the fishfinder?

Minn Kota and Humminbird both belong to the parent company Johnson Outdoors and are coming even closer together in the One-Boat Network. From this generation onwards, fishfinders and bow motors are marketed under the joint main brand Minn Kota. However, 100 percent original Humminbird sonar technology works inside, recognizable by the "Humminbird Imaging" logo on the housing. The Minn Kota X9 CMSI is the direct, fully compatible successor to the Humminbird XPLORE 9 CMSI.

Can I connect a Live Sonar to the Minn Kota X9 CMSI in addition to the included transom transducer?

Yes, it works in parallel and without additional devices. While the included transom transducer is plugged into the regular sonar connection, you connect a Live Sonar (like the new Minn Kota LIVE or Humminbird MEGA Live 1 & 2) directly via the free Ethernet network connection on the back. An external black box is not required for this.

What battery should I plan for the Minn Kota X9 CMSI?

With a power consumption of 2.1 amperes, the 9-inch model is very efficient for its performance class. For a full fishing day of 10 to 12 hours, a 12V LiFePO4 battery with at least 25 Ah to 30 Ah capacity (or 50 Ah if you plan multi-day sessions without recharging or additionally operate a Live Sonar transducer over the same battery) is recommended.
