Catfishing in August with full moon and heat

Vitali Dalke

Report on catfish fishing in August under a full moon – August, heat and river monsters.

Catfish fishing in August
There were five of us. After arriving at the fishing spot, we got started right away: unloading the cars, preparing the rigs, setting up tents, and getting the dinghies ready. The August heat didn't allow for any breaks, but the anticipation of catfish fishing outweighed any inconveniences.

The first bite – against all odds!
Right after lunch, I set the first buoy rig on the edge of an underwater ledge. And then the incredible happened: Half an hour later, a catfish bit on a hand-sized roach! And that was even though a motorboat had just sped past the buoy rig at full speed. Imagine that: heat, crowds, engine noise – and then the loud screech of the reel drag while a large catfish fought on the other end of the line... Pure ecstasy!

Fighting with missed bites and triumphs
The following days were a real test. Missed bites followed, but we didn't give up. Time and again, one of us managed to land a new catfish! The photo sessions with the summer catfish were a highlight. Embracing the slippery catfish under the hot sun and putting it back in the water – a ritual that conveys pure joy!

A personal record
Our teammate was promised a personal record – and we kept our promise! His persistence and perfect tactics led to success, and he caught his massive catfish!
Most bites occurred in the afternoon and evening, when the sun was at its most relentless. Sounds like a bad time? Not for catfish!

Photo reportage instead of words
Words can't capture the emotions of these days. So see for yourself! The pictures speak for themselves – catfish fights, passion, proud grins, and a great deal of respect for each magnificent specimen caught.
